Boyd Gaming Team Member Goes Above and Beyond to Make a Difference in the Lives of Others
6/12/2024
Stephanie Ring, Executive Secretary at Boyd Gaming Corporate, dedicates her time outside of work to volunteering at the United Service Organizations (USO). As an active volunteer since 2022, Stephanie commits 16 hours per month to serving active-duty members and their families as they come through Harry Reid International Airport. From being a friendly presence to providing refreshments and information before or after a flight, Stephanie’s dedication to volunteering at the USO is emblematic of her character as a hardworking team member at Boyd Gaming.
Stephanie’s involvement and connection with the USO stems from her family’s military background. Her father served in the Army during the Vietnam War, while her grandfather was a Navy pilot during World War II. These familial ties made Stephanie’s involvement with the USO seem like a natural connection as this was just one extra way for her to say thank you to members for their service.
Alongside her family, Stephanie feels encouragement from
Boyd Gaming to support worthwhile charities like USO that are near and dear to
her heart. When asked what it means to work for a Company that gives back and
supports the mission of USO, Stephanie said, “It’s one of my favorite things
about Boyd Gaming. We are given the tools to make giving that support, either
with our time or money, a little easier with the Giving the Boyd Way campaigns
and the online site GivingTheBoydWay.com
.”
“The USO is
fortunate to have a long-standing partnership with Boyd Gaming,” said Tim
Mullin, Executive Director at USO Intermountain Region. “We cannot
provide that kind of support and impact without Boyd’s support of the USO through financial sponsorships of
critical morale-boosting and military family-strengthening programming for
service members and their families. For the last several year’s Boyd has
sponsored our monthly deployed family outings. These monthly events provide an
opportunity to bring the family members of currently deployed local service
members together over a shared activity like ice skating, baseball games,
bowling, or movie nights. The goal being to help these families meet others in
similar situations and build strong relationships and support systems.
Additionally, Boyd has made generous in-kind contributions to provide
entertainment opportunities to the thousands of service members and family
members that we reach.”
All in all, Stephanie’s dual role as a dedicated team member
at Boyd Gaming and a passionate volunteer at USO highlight the great person she
is, both within and outside the office walls.
